Hello School Bus!

So in the last couple days I decided to break down and let Ty ride the school bus. He only asked me every day for the last 2 weeks. The whole pick up routine at his school was getting very tiresome and was always guaranteed to make you nice and sweaty. So today we headed to the bus stop and I waited with him. He saw some kids in his class which made me feel better. Then the bus came and I freaked out a little. We got in line and I told the bus driver who was my age and had a goatee that Ty was a "first timer". He didn't seem to care. Ty sat down in the very first row and waved out the window. I sat there for a minute and then decided to beat the bus to the school and watch Ty get off. You know...make sure he found his way to kindergarten land. I thought for sure there would be a teacher or someone helping the kindergarten kids to their area of the school. No one met him though. Like a big boy he just followed the herd of kids through the gates (there was a teacher making sure all the kids went through the gate). He didn't see me spying on him during all of this. So I made my way to the k-playground and waited for him to show up. And show up he did. What was I worrying about? He said "Hi Mom! That was fun!" And the afternoon was so much nicer. I left my house 40 minutes later than usual to go to the park at the corner. He got off the bus with a big smile on his face and I breathed a sigh of relief. Tonight he told me that in the morning I don't have to wait at the bus stop with him...I can just drop him off and leave. I don't know if I'm ready for that yet.

Good job Ty and especially good job Cheryl. I am a bit jealous that you shortened your pick up routine. I am going to miss standing out in the sun and sweating with you every afternoon. Next time you smell BO, just think of me. : )

You are brave Cheryl! I know that I could not do that, just the thought of sending Carson on the bus freaks me out! I love that you spied on him that first day it is such a MOM thing to do! Who knew that having kids would make us crazy worried all the time?

I totally felt the same way last year! Even though Miriam will be in first grade there is no way I am just dropping her off! I still wait for the bus in the afternoon etc!

You are too funny! You are also lucky that you don't have to wait in the heat of the day anymore! I think I will break a hole in my fence so Connor can just climb through to school!
